available programs

3rd-6th Grade Tackle

CYFA's 3rd-6th tackle program is an affiliate of the West Michigan Youth Football League (WMYFL). WMYFL is a coalition of 12 programs from various communities in West Michigan including East Grand Rapids, Catholic, Comstock Park, Cedar Springs, Rockford, Lowell, East Kentwood, Greenville, Northview, Sparta, and Forest Hills. Our focus is to provide a safe, fun environment to teach good sportsmanship and the basic fundamentals of football to all participants!

CYFA's Tackle Football is for players who are entering grades 3rd-6th. Your child does not have to be a Caledonia resident to participate. Each child will be placed in the group of the grade they are going into in the fall. If your player will be in 3rd grade starting September 2024, then this is the division he/she will play in. The season consists of 7 games each Saturday beginning the first Saturday after Labor Day, and ending 7 weeks after that date. Your team’s opponent, game location, and game time, is scheduled by West Michigan Youth Football League.

7th-8th Grade Tackle

Caledonia Youth Football's 7th and 8th grade tackle programs are a part of the West Michigan Middle School Conference (WMMSC). Their Philosophy is to provide middle school students the opportunity to participate in an interscholastic athletic setting under the philosophies and guidelines outlined below:

Benefits: The goal of each school is to work with all students of different skill levels to develop their talents, and allow them to receive the positive benefits of the interscholastic athletics with the rules and regulations of MHSAA

Participation: Any student who meets the regulations of their school and MHSAA shall have the opportunity to participate on an interscholastic athletic team without being "cut" from the team due to size or ability, if withing the school's resources to do so. Each participant will have a guaranteed amount of participation time, as designed in each sport philosophy

Sportsmanship: Good sportsmanship by both coaches and players should be exemplified at all time.

Flag Football

Flag football is a non-contact version of football that is perfect to learn the fundamentals of the game, compete as a team, and have a lot of fun. CYFA participates in NFL Flag, which is the official flag football program of the NFL. NFL FLAG serves more than 600,000 players in 1,600 leagues across the country. Being a part of NFL FLAG provides CYFA and our athletes with structure, an opportunity to play in regional tournaments, and incredible uniforms.

CYFA offers flag football in the fall and spring to boys and girls ages 5 through 14. Our fall league runs from August to October and our spring league runs from April to June. Both seasons start with practice or camp followed by a 6 week regular season. After the regular season, teams compete in the playoffs to determine 1st-3rd place in each division.  Regardless of the season, all games take place on Sundays.
